JEMMA SYKES
Botanical Drawings & Fine Art Prints Inspired by the Cotswolds
botanical observations
Botanical Observations is a series of intricate ink drawings inspired by reflections on the ever-changing countryside surrounding Jemma Sykes’ Cotswold home. Enthused by the resilience of nature and its endless rhythm, her work captures the optimism each season brings as it unfolds through both wild and cultivated flowers.
Inspired by Victorian botanical artists, floriography, and her own textile practice, delicate lace-like patterns are woven into stylised compositions. Plants are gently exaggerated through playful interactions with their inhabitants, insects, birds and butterflies, creating richly detailed scenes inspired by the natural world.
Nature, Folklore & Memory
Each piece is threaded with childhood memories, folklore, and quiet hopes and wishes for the future. Through detailed biro drawings, Jemma creates botanical artworks that celebrate the beauty and fragility found within the Cotswold landscape.
Original biro drawings and high-quality Giclée prints are available to purchase in a variety of sizes, with commissions also welcomed.
